Viva Las Vegas!

My phone alarm started going off at 10 so that we'd have time to get around and pack up to be out of the room by noon, which was check out time, but I kept hitting snooze and didn't get up until 11. I got showered and dressed but everyone else was still sleeping so I had to start opening the curtains and rousing them. I didn't think there would be any way I could get them out of there on time, but noon came and went with no calls from the front desk or visits from housekeeping, so we seemed to be OK. We finally got everything gathered and moved out about a half hour late.
We decided to finally go downtown since we hadn't made it last night. Jason had told us about a place called Mermaids that he said we should check out, and Dylan and I always like to go to Fitzgerald's since it has the rainbow. We found Mermaids right away and had a brunch of deep-fried oreos and twinkies, and hot dogs. We didn't have much luck there on the slot machines though, so after the half-hour drawing came and went without any of us winning, we decided to move on down the strip. Luther had his camera of course so we stopped for lots of photo ops. It was really hot out but it was fun, and we'd just duck into a casino whenever we needed another drink or to cool off. It ended up being a really fun day, but I kept wondering when we were going to head back to LA.
Around 4 or 5 we decided we were hungry enough for a real meal so we went in some casino and were going to go get this special at Tony Roma's, but upon reading the fine print we saw that the special wasn't being offered at this particular time. So we found a nearby buffet that we settled on, although Dylan decided he wasn't that hungry and didn't want the buffet.
After we finished eating we all decided it was finally time to go home. We just had to run Dylan back to the Riviera so he could cash out since he had forgotten to do it before, and then we were on our way home.
We stopped in Baker, our usual pit stop, and listened to Christina Aguilera, Kelis, and whatever other CD's Andy wanted to play.
It started getting dark around Victorville, and by the time I got near Rancho Cucamonga I was apparently spacing out because I thought I had gotten on the 210 and we were going to be home pretty soon, when I started noticing unfamiliar street signs. Then Dylan read a sign that said "San Diego- 111 Miles" and I was like, OK why would they be telling us how far it is to San Diego? Then, I looked at a highway sign and noticed we were still on the 15 south! I totally freaked out. I hate making mistakes when I'm driving and this was a doozie! Apparently, I hadn't gotten on the 210 after all, and I didn't have much concept of how much time had gone by since I should have done it and the time I realized I didn't. All I knew was that Norco, CA, was coming up and that I had no idea where that was!
Luther mapped us out on his iPhone and it turned out that we just had to turn around for about 5 miles and catch the 60 west. It ended up putting maybe 20-30 minutes extra on our trip but no one gave me a hard time about it so it wasn't that bad. I was just really upset with myself.
We dropped Luther and Andy off where they had parked near Brandon and Angie's, and then we drove home and brought our stuff up to the apartment. Everything was just as we left it, and we were so beat we pretty much went right to bed.

Hello 2010, goodbye junk!

A tin of baking powder and a box of baking soda... or was it the other way around? I can never keep those two straight.
