Pandelerium

The first day of my birthday month. Yay!
I was a little sad since it was our last full day in Kansas, but I could tell Dylan was getting sort of bored and homesick, which he hardly ever gets. We hadn't really been going out at all by ourselves but when I asked him he hadn't wanted to.
Royal came up to sleep with us in the morning after mom and dad left for work, since as Dylan said he had "no better options." We got up in time to get ready and meet mom out front when she came to get us on her lunch break so we could meet dad at Long John Silver's for lunch. When we got there, it was warm and cloudy but once we got inside it started raining really hard. It wasn't the best Long Johns; the quality really has gone down since they started combining them all with other restaurants - this one was also an A&W. Dylan ordered of the Fresh Grille menu which he had done before and liked, but this one was so clearly a microwaved TV dinner in a plastic plate. He didn't finish it.
It started hailing which was quite the hubbub there in Long Johns as several employees rushed out, worried about their cars. We had to hang out in there for about 10 minutes until the hail died down and we could make it to the car. Dad had to go back to work so we said goodbye to him and we headed for the Great Mall of the Great Plains for some shopping. Andrea called and said she was about to leave to KC and that Sharon was coming too so that was great news. I was worried that we wouldn't get to see them.
We shopped at the Burlington Coat Factory and I got several things including a shirt, red bowtie, and some Lucky 7 cologne; Dylan got some 2xist underwear and other stuff. We didn't find much else in the mall that we liked.
By the time we got back to the house, the sky was blue and sunny and it was hard to believe we had just been in a hailstorm about an hour ago.
Michele and Haley were the first guests to arrive for our little post-memorial day BBQ. I hadn't really talked to Haley every probably and I really had just remembered her being a little baby girl when she was born. I haven't really seen Michele in years either. She used to be my babysitter and she is my cousin Andrea's first cousin on her dad's side. There are some strained familial relationships so that's why we hadn't seen each other for a long time, but it was nice to catch up. Adrienne and Maddie arrived shortly after Sharon, Andrea, Tana, Caden and Gage. For some reason, Maddie was really barking loudly when she saw the boys and we didn't know why. We had to take her in mom and dad's room and calm her down. She seemed to be fine for awhile after that.
Sharon had brought Brant's bologna from Lucas which is one of my favorite back-home treats, and she also had cheese and home-canned pickles from her mother-in-law. I made mango guacamole and dad grilled hot dogs and hamburgers. We spent most of the time hanging out over on the side patio since it was a little cooler there. Dylan was teaching the kids how to play croquet which was so cute.
We had a couple more incidents with Maddie barking at the boys. We ended up realizing that she had some weird issue that would set her off whenever she would see one of the boys either on the other side of a door or a fence. Anytime Caden or Gage got on the other side of the patio door from her, or on the other side of the privacy fence, she would start barking like mad. It was really strange, because then when they would be on the same side she would just walk up to them like normal.
We had a great time catching up with Andrea and didn't want them to leave, but they had a hotel room across town where Dallas, his brother and father were all staying at for some bowling convention, and then they were going to drive all the way to Florida for vacation after two nights in KC.
Sharon stayed at mom and dad's house, and we got Royal to come up and sleep with Dylan and I since it was out last night.

Glad you documented this event, it was such a whirlwind time and passed much too quickly for me!
