Halloween at the Hammer

Halloween weekend has officially begun! I didn't wear a costume to work since Halloween isn't actually until Sunday and I knew no one else would wear one, although I did want to.
Brandon and Angie came and picked us up after work and we went to the Hammer Museum over by Westwood for this event they were having called Tranimal Workshop. These local cutting-edge drag queens like Squeeky Blonde and Phaedra (sp?) were doing this thing where they would make people over in their style, which is really a freaky style of drag with like fishnets over the faces and lots of scary/weird accessories. Then, the amazing photographer Austin Young would take photos of those who got madeover. Dylan was really excited for that and he ended up being the only one of us who got a makeover because when he went to sign up, they told him he was the last one.
Kristahn was there - she was actually the person who told us about the event. She was dressed up like Dolly Parton and she looked really good - she had put the outfit together herself. Annie and Silvia were also there.
There was a stage set up with performers. Phranc, the lesbian folk singer, was one of the performers and it was fun to see her because I remember her from back in the day. We also saw Will from Hey Willpower and talked to him for a little bit, telling him we had seen him perform at the Palms (which he didn't really remember) and at Folsom Street Fair, the same year Shitting Glitter performed. He was playing with Daniella Sea, who was on the L Word. The headliner was Our Lady J, who I had never really heard of before, but she was amazing. She plays the piano and has electronic tracks, and she is very dramatic and talented.
After the show was over, we went back to Hollywood and stopped at Gold Coast for a night cap. Our friend Mattie from the Gay-Gays and the G80's was there so we chatted with him for awhile. Some little gay boy loved my purple and silver scarf so I gave it to him and he was so thrilled - I couldn't mention that I had gotten it at the 99 cents store!
