Gingerbread Tradition

We started a new holiday tradition three years ago when we had Connor, Dylan's nephew, come over with his mom, Jennie, and we spent the day making a gingerbread house and just generally being goofy. Of course there was some champagne involved for the three of us that were of legal drinking age. It was so much fun we decided to do it every year, but this year we decided to go to their place instead of them coming to ours.
They live up in Tujunga, near where Dylan used to live when he was younger - he's lived all over the valley and LA. So on the way up he stopped and showed me where he used to live with his dad in Shadow Hills, and then we found a house in Tujunga where he and his mom used to live, which was coincidentally right next door to the house where Zaac used to live (he was the bass player in Shitting Glitter for a short time and I would go visit him there).
We got to Connor and Jennie's apartment and hung out for awhile before a little boy, JR, who lives downstairs came up too. He lives with his dad and so Jennie takes care of him a lot because he and Connor are friends. So we all walked to the park together and played there for awhile and then we went back to start the gingerbread house. I had gotten a kit at Trader Joe's which looked like it would be easier than the one's we've done in previous years, but of course we ran out of the frosting before we were done, so I had to do my best to make some more frosting with the ingredients Jennie gave me from her kitchen and some powdered sugar we borrowed from the neighbors. It didn't taste great but that was actually good because it got the kids to start focus on decorating the house rather than eating the frosting!
We watched a different animated version of "Frosty the Snowman" which Dylan hated at first because it wasn't the claymation one we grew up with, but it was OK. Then we got on a youtube bender playing holiday videos and movie clips. Eventually it was time for us to go so we had to say our goodbyes.
It was sprinkling when we left and we were heading down to Atwater Village to see Ronnie on his last night in LA. They had been at the Red Lion so they had all had a few drinks and it was a festive atmosphere. I think Ronnie really enjoyed his time in LA. We ended up playing my album and Brandon gave me some general input on it, and then I gave it to Ronnie so he could listen to on his drive back to Kansas.
We did get a little bad news, Adrienne will not be coming to visit after all! I had been so excited to see her. Sad face :(
