I got up early in the morning to take Adrienne to LAX. Her flight was really early, but I didn't want to go back home and try and sleep for just an hour or so, so I went right into work afterward. I got there so early - obviously I was the first one there. It was actually kind of nice being there so early before everyone else. At 8:30, Brian and Sarah came in and Brian said how weird it was the there were already 3 of us there that early. We had a couple meetings in the afternoon, including a Hollywood U meeting which is a collective of all the post-secondary schools in Hollywood. I was really tired after the meetings were over, so I ended up leaving a little before 5pm since I had come in so early. Adrienne texted that she got home safe, so that was good. I think she really had an amazing trip, I know we all had such a good time while she was here. It was a very hot memorial day in Kansas! Sam and Jake came over from Lawrence for brunch although we didn't all get up and around until it was pretty much already just lunch time. Mom made a french bread casserole that was SO yummy. Dylan made sweet potato hashbrowns and dad grilled sausages and then we had a make-your-own omelet bar set up on the back patio. Mom also steamed some handmade tamales that she had gotten from one of her students at school, and someone had chopped up a whole bowl of fruit. It was actually a ridiculous amount of food for 8 people, plus it was so hot out on the patio and the grill being on didn't help. We set up a fan which was nice but we were still sweating, but that didn't stop us from playing a round of croquet with Sam and Jake. Today was a pretty lazy day. We didn't do much of anything for most of the day so I played Bully on the wii in the basement. Mom and I went shopping at Wal-Mart later to get food for brunch on Memorial Day since we ended up making plans with Shelley Nondorf, and her daughter Samantha and husband Jake who we had just recently hung out with in Hawaii over the holidays. My parents have been friends with the Nondorfs for years but I hadn't seen their kids in ages until Hawaii. We also bought a croquet set for the backyard since neither one of them could remember what happened to Grandma Strecker's old set, which dad insisted had either fallen apart or had been sold at a garage sale. I find it hard to believe they would have sold anything of Grandma's at a garage sale. We also stopped at the Dollar Tree and got some drinking glasses and other assorted little things. Got up in the morning and decided to make brunch for Dylan and I. I make spam and fried egg sandwiches, but I dipped the bread in egg and fried the bread like french toast, then fried the spam and the egg with sliced onion and melted cheese on top, and served it with cuban style black beans. It was all delicious! We wasted most of the day just sitting and catching up on lots of TV on DVR, including Saturday night live, Parks & Rec, 30 Rock and Community. Around 5:30 we got around and went to Tiger's house. On the way we stopped and I got a bottle of wine, a thing of shrimp cocktail, a banana cream pie and some flavored tortilla chips. My total was $20 even, how often does that happen? We were the first one's to arrive at Tiger's shindig. Then Brandon, Angie and Rebecca showed up, followed by Bella, Steven, Nick and Pray.
