All Duran Duran's albums ranked!

Image
Duran Duran's 14th album came out last Friday, so in honor of their amazing career I thought I'd rank all of their studio albums! Duran Duran has been one of my favorite bands since I can remember. They were at the height of their popularity just as I was starting to become aware of pop culture and listening to the radio. Their songs were played on the radio all the time when I was around 8 years old, and they were the favorite band of my cousin, Travis, who I idolized. So naturally I became interested in them and followed their career through the highs and the lows. I remember being in my cousin Scott's wedding when I was a junior in high school, and on the drive there, the DJ announced that "Ordinary World" was #1, and that song was from what has become known as "The Wedding Album" which was very fitting and special for me on that day. Several years later, in college, is when I went from being more of a superficial fan (I really only had known their si...

Agnew

Yesterday, I lamented the closing of Del Taco. Today, I found out that my old dorm, Agnew Hall, had been demolished. This was very sad for me, because not only was it my first home after I moved out of my parents house (if you don't count me living in our old farmhouse for about 2 weeks right after high school graduation), and my mom also lived there when she went to FHSU. I still remember going in there for the first time, and being excited that I had a place that was mine and there were no parents there! My roommate, Jason, arrived a couple days after I was there, so I had the room to myself the first few nights. Dad helped me put in some carpet that we had ripped out of the living room of their house when they recarpeted, and I brought in my TV, stereo, microwave and dorm fridge and got it to be a pretty cool little place. I lived there my entire freshman year. Jason and I were very different people, we got a long fine but we never really bonded as friends. He had his li...

Whittier College and Adam's 40th

Mayday! It's the holiday where we used to go put flowers on people's doors, and then run away after knocking. I think that's a midwestern thing 'cause no one out here has heard of it before. I made brunch for me, Dylan, Marc, and Viktor. I made beanie weenies with veggie hot dogs and a BBQ I made from scratch, and Soyrizo and Egg burritos. They were all yummy! It was so cute because Viktor brought Princessa, his tiny little chihuahua over. Shitting Glitter had a gig at Whittier College for Psychedelic Circus, put on by the Poets Society or something like that. It was an outdoor afternoon show on the upper quad. Marc rode with me, and we picked up Robert on the way. I totally missed the exit for the 60 East and ended up taking the 710 all the way to Long Beach! I was already running late, but that set me back even more, and then when I got to Whittier my directions were really bad and I ended up going in the wrong direction again. I called Laura and luckily he...

Taking Loyola Marymount and Woodstock

I woke up as early as I could because I had to load up the car and get to Loyola Marymount University, where Shitting Glitter was going to perform at a Marriage Equality Rally. I had to get there early though because the opening act, two high school girls from Santa Monica, needed to borrow my keyboard. The campus is beautiful and it was a perfect day, but I was slightly disappointed with the turnout - I thought there would be way more people on a college campus, especially considering that there had been a good deal of controversy around the event as it is a Jesuit College and the administration had threatened to cancel the event, sparking accusations of homophobia which turned out to be false (suposedly) as the concern revolved more around the volume level than the purpose of the event. The rally got off to a very late start and there were quite a few bands and speakers, so before we even played our set was already cut down to 15 minutes, and Red texted that she wouldn't be able...

Brandon's Birthday

Happy 31st Birthday to my brother, Brandon! Welcome to the 30+ club! The workday went pretty well, and I went to work at Susan's house to pay bills and got to see her poor ol' dog, Forrest, who had been attacked by a wild animal the other day. He was laying on a blanket in the living room when I got there, so I was really worried about him. But later, he was up and around, and came and stood next to me in the office so I could pet him. Forrest is one of those dogs that I bonded with right away and he seems to know how much I love him. He always comes over to me and expects me to pet him, since I usually do, but when I stop he uses his paw to try to move my hand back onto his head! It's so cute. I stupidly left my phone at Susan's house and didn't realize until after I got home. Carrie was supposed to be meeting me so I could let her in since she is staying with us now for a few days, but I had no way to contact her. I tried e-mailing and IM'ing Dylan on ...
