Jesus Christ it's Christmas with the Boofont Sisters

Rain, rain and more rain! The torrential rains we're having in LA at least make it seem like the holiday season - it might not be snow, but it's something different and to be honest, it's so much easier to get in the holiday spirit when the weather is just dreadful (not that I think the rain is dreadful personally). Dylan and I went to brunch at Fabiolus Cafe over in Hollywood which was all-you-can-eat for $9.99, a great deal. Fabio, the owner, had invited us but he wasn't there unfortunately. It was nice to have brunch somewhere outside of West Hollywood for a change. The Boofont Sister's annual holiday show was taking place all weekend, this year titled "Jesus Christ! It's Christmas!" and Dylan and I had gotten our tickets for tonight and met Marc, James and Robert there. The show was so much fun - it was definitely their best one yet. In addition to Vicky (Joe) and Ruby (Cindy), the guest stars were Kelly Mantle, Barbie Q, Tammy Brown, and Wee ...

Summer in Hell

Image
Dylan had hoped to go shopping with his mom since it was Black Friday and she had told him she wanted to buy us a flat screen TV for a combined birthday/yuletide present, but unfortunately we had a bunch of errands to run and then we had made plans to go have dinner and see a play with Myles. We met him near the theatre and then went down to Biergarten, which is an interesting place because it's a Korean version of a German restaurant. It was really yummy and we loved the beers they had. It was right down the street from our old neighborhood; from the parking lot you could see The Dover, our old apartment building. Then we went to the theatre to see the play which was called "Summer in Hell," about a couple of cousins who are having sort of an incestuous affair, and then another couple gets dragged into it. It was fun, and the actors were all really good and they all knew Myles so we hung out and had some wine with them afterward.

Much Ado About Nothing

Brandon and Angie took the day off so they could spend it with Adrienne. I had to work, but as soon as I got off I went to Trader Joe's and got some wine, sushi, and snacks to take to Brandon and Angie's because we were going to Griffith Park for Shakespeare in the park. I've never seen a Shakespeare play so I was pretty excited. We got there right before the play started and so we had to sit pretty far back. I didn't realize what a problem that would be until the play started and then we had to strain to hear the actors since there was no microphones or amplified sound - it was just all natural. Which was cool, but between how far we were, and the accents and the language, it was nearly impossible to follow. We had our little picnic dinner and wine - we ended up with 5 bottles between the 4 of us! Dylan couldn't make it because he had to work late at the TV Academy for the Performer's Nominee Reception. During the intermission, we decided to move up to be...

Who you callin' a ho?

I had a lot of stuff going on today. First, I got up and around so that Dylan and I could go get his bike from my office since he had left it there when we went to Tiger's show on Thursday. Rick and Melodie were working on some cut-away shots for the Invisible Material video and they needed my bass drum so we went there first, as Brandon was already there with his guitar and amp. They were up on the roof filming the shots. When they finished, they invited us down to their apartment to see a rough cut of the video. It was amazing! I can't wait until it's finished and we can show everyone. Then we went to my office and I got his bike, riding it down the sidewalk to where Dylan was waiting with my car. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever ridden it. It was pretty fun, actually. From there, he biked home and I went to Guitar Center on Sunset. They were supposed to be having a big grand re-opening of their drum shop, and I desperately need a ride cy...

Puppetry Part Two

Today was our first board meeting of the new year so I was a little stressed out getting ready for it. It all came together of course and everything went pretty smoothly, despite the fact that it was a little long (over 2 hours), but since we hadn't met in January it made sense. After work, I stopped by Smart & Final on my way home to buy some supplies for catering the video shoot this weekend. I always appreciate a chance to show of my cooking and food prep skills so I had volunteered Dylan and myself to take care of all the food for the shoot. I wanted to do breakfast burritos for the morning, and sandwiches and salads for lunch. I ended up getting all the stuff for the burritos, along with stuff for a green salad and potato salad. When I got home, I made the potato salad first and by the time that was finished, our dinner was ready. I had put two Cornish Game Hens in the slow cooker earlier in the day (I had come home on my lunch break) so we had those with cornbread s...

Puppetry of the Penis

I missed the last damned day of boot camp! I really wanted to go, because I had never missed graduation day at boot camp before, where we usually play volleyball, and Luther usually brings his special brownies. But, I just could not wake up in time. I was so excited for work to be over, because Dylan and I were going on our date to Puppetry of the Penis, which I had bought tickets for as our Valentine's gift. I had always wanted to see the show since I had first heard of it, when it was playing on LaCienega (at the Coronet Theatre?) years ago. Brandon and Angie came over to have dinner with us beforehand; they brought their own dinner with them from Kung Pao Bistro and I whipped up some BLAT (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado & Tomato) Wraps for Dylan and I. They were delicious! Brandon shared some sweet herb with us and then they drove us to the Coast Theatre down the street from us. It was raining a little at first but then the rain stopped. We got there about a half hour early ...

Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them

Apparently, I was so tipsy from the wine last night at Tiger's Photo Exhibit that I forgot to turn my ringer back on, set my alarm, and put it in the bedroom. In other words, there is no way that I could have woken up in time for boot camp! I felt bad because Tony and I had agreed to wear our Kiwi Thunder shirts today, and we were going be playing basketball which I actually enjoy when it's with a bunch of gay guys. Work was OK. Nothing too exciting happened. It was another rainy day, which I enjoyed. I was glad to have it back again. Robin had gotten her Fed-Ex package while Dylan and I were at work, so that was good because it means she won't have to come back on Monday. Dylan and I got dressed up nice and went to the Stella Adler theatre on Hollywood Blvd. for the Blank Theater Company's production of "Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them" which is a play by Christopher Durang. Nicholas Brendon from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Alec Mapa, ...
